Ambient Material Studies

2026
Experimental Sound Performance
Developed during Experimental Media Masterclass

Ambient Material Studies offers a space to explore unknown sonic worlds.
The live performance by vaZdaZ embraces an unconventional approach using hybrid technology. At its core are two self-built electro-acoustic idiophones featuring different metal and wooden elements, set into vibration through a variety of playing techniques. The resulting tones are shaped into unpredictable atmospheric sounds using digital effect modules.

With his performance, the artist aims to show that simplicity in instrumentation – combined with intuitive playing – can unlock an immense range of sonic and emotional diversity.
