INNER STATE

2026
Interactive Audio Video Installation
Developed during Presentation & Exploitation class

The INNER STATE project is an interdisciplinary masterclass project that operates at the intersection of media art, technology, and body awareness. At its core is the translation of physiological bodily signals into audiovisual experiences. Through the use of a piezo microphone, bodily processes, such as heart rate, are made visible and audible in real time. This creates an immersive installation in which inner, mostly unconscious bodily states are expressed through sound and light. The project aims to create a sensory connection between humans and technology. Participants experience how their own bodily signals have an immediate impact on sound and image.

In TouchDesigner and Ableton Live, the captured signals from the piezo microphone are translated into visual and auditory parameters. In TouchDesigner, organic, changing forms are created, while in Ableton, the
synthesizer soundscape is modulated. Thus, image and sound react directly to the body data of the participants or performers.
