Experimental Sound Walk
Developed during the Blended Intensive Program in Athens with the topic “Crossroads & Footprints” in the workshop “Extended Postcards”
The audio postcard captures the journey of a traveler moving through Athens, from the dense energy of the city center to the openness of the sea. It is not about escaping the city but rather experiencing its transitions – how soundscapes shift as one moves through different urban layers.
To create this, I combined field recordings with their stretched versions using Paul Stretch. The stretched sounds reveal hidden harmonics and textures, creating an abstract, dreamlike layer that coexists with reality. By blending both versions at the same time, the connection between the familiar and the surreal remains present – reminding us that sound is not static, but something constantly evolving with movement and perception.
This piece invites the listener to engage with Athens in a different way, not through images, but through its layered and transitional sonic identity.
